I am a hand-builder, mostly a coiler.
I make rough shapes and refine them over days as they start to dry, carefully scraping away layers to create forms, often very different from their origin.
Every piece of work is totally unique. It is as if each pot represents a particular moment in time, a mood felt or a thought being processed.
In the making of pots, I feel grounded.
I live in a house decorated with bright colour and bold graphics, and yet when I work, I am drawn to the organic - to texture, to blacks, browns and natural forms.
I work with grogged clay, metal oxides and slips. I love the strength that these elements offer. My work is less about 'being decorative', and more about 'being'.
I have recently moved back to London from East Sussex and most days you will find me at my studio in Deptford.
I am happy to take commissions, but please bear in my mind that no two pieces of my work is the same.
Please get in touch via the contact page if you would like to discuss my work or visit my studio.
